Today, FPSB Ireland launched one of the most comprehensive studies of retirement readiness carried out in Ireland, developed by Amárach Research together with Institute of Banking, Life Insurance Association and the Retirement Planning Council of Ireland.
The report is receiving media coverage today and strongly reinforces the importance of the work CFP® professionals do every day in helping people achieve better financial outcomes in retirement.
The findings reveal a significant disconnect between pension participation and genuine retirement preparedness. While 74% of people say they manage their day-to-day finances well, 79% feel unprepared for retirement. The research highlights that many people remain focused on building a pension “pot”, without fully understanding the income it will provide or the lifestyle it needs to support later in life.
