In the 1960s George Draper came to Sligo working for Guardian Insurance. He soon fell in love, both with his wife to be, Vivien and with Sligo itself.
In 1974 he, with Vivien, established IPM (Insurance and Property Management) Ltd. which later grew into two companies IPM (Insurances) Ltd. trading as IPM Draper, Insurance and Financial Brokers and IPM (Estates) Ltd. trading as Sherry FitzGerald Draper, Estate Agents and Valuation Surveyors.
Today IPM Draper operates as two complimentary divisions IPM Draper Insurance Brokers and IPM Draper Financial Brokers. Brian Kilgallon heads up the general insurance brokerage and Adrian McHale leads the financial services business. Two of George’s sons Ken and Niall form the leadership team with Adrian and Brian.
While a lot has come and gone in Stephen Street and generally over the decades since, the business has continued to evolve and develop and the firm’s core specialisms and values prevail consistent with George’s original vision for IPM all those years ago.
